Saturday May 12, from 10:00 – noon, find us at the U District Farmers Market. We’re sharing a table with Councilmember Rob Johnson and sharing creative ways to get the the market (think bicycling with blueberries, transit and turnips!) We want to hear your story and how you manage your trips to the market for a chance to win a prize. Drop us a line now, or stop by the market to learn more.
Tuesday May 15, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., bike on over to Scarecrow Video for a rad flick! May is Bike Everywhere Month! Get on your bicycle and join us at Scarecrow Video for a flick and everyone is welcome! We’re watching BMX Bandits (1983). Two BMX expert bikers and a friend of theirs (Nicole Kidman) become entangled with a group of bank robbers after discovering a carton of walkie-talkies. Details here.
Thursday May 18, from 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., we‘re joining UW Transportation Services’ Husky Celebration Station on Bike Everywhere Day, just off the Burke-Gilman Trail. In addition to all the standard goodies, we will also be registering bikes to help protect your bike from theft. Every year, a bike theft epidemic rages from May through October, claiming thousands of bicycles in Seattle. Registration will be through Bike Index, which is independent, free, easy, and proven. Stop by, learn more, get a cool bike spoke card, and get immunized against bike theft.
Saturday May 19, from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. & Sunday, May 20 from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm we will be at the 49th Annual University District Street Fair helping people learn about mobility in the neighborhood.
Tuesday, May 24, from 9:00 a.m.. – 10:00 a.m. (doors open at 8:30 a.m.) for a Transit Talk, U Talk Series. Significant transportation related investments are being made in the U District—investments that will change how people get to, through and from the area. Link light rail will become operational in 2021 expanding economic capacity and growth. What will these changes mean to our business district? What does this mean for how customers get here? And what impacts will this have on how businesses and organizations hire and retain staff? RSVP here.
We hope that we will see you out and about the U District neighborhood!
