Meet Miriam! Program manager
Meet Miriam Castro, Program Manager with U District, Let’s Go. Miriam comes from the University of Washington where she worked for five years. She started out with the UW Combined Fund Drive doing fundraising and volunteer management. Miriam also worked with UW Transportation Services on the Commute Options team. She coordinated events like Bike Everywhere Month and Ride Transit Month and helped students and staff find better commutes to campus. One of her key contributions was the creation of Commute Ambassadors, a passionate group of volunteers charged with helping others (within their own departments and social circles) learn about mobility. Miriam is thrilled to work Transportation Choices Coalition and to focus on transportation through the lens of health and equity. U District, Let’s Go plans to connect people working, living and visiting the U District with transportation resources such as commute planning services for employees, toolkits for employers, and wayfinding for people visiting. “I had a lot of help learning new ways to commute. From riding my bicycle to the U District the first time and learning to take transit downtown.” Said Castro. “I look forward to helping others learn as well.”
