Sometimes you need a car
Sometimes you need a car to get things done. Like picking up supplies for a work event, or maybe you want to get out of town and go for a hike with friends. Don’t own a car? Utilizing carsharing services like Zipcar, Car2Go, or ReachNow are great transportation solutions for you. All of them are easy to start using. Use your smart phone to download their apps to join (wait a few days for processing) and then reserve, unlock, and (what are you waiting for?) get moving!
The prices are fairly standard across the different companies, some have monthly membership requirements, others utilize a pay as you need it model and each company has it’s own unique segment. For example, Zipcar has many different types of vehicles to fit your specific needs. If you moving over the weekend, you can rent an actual truck. (Sorry, helper friends are not included). You can book a Zipcar for as little as 1 hour or as long as 7 days and there are various plans you can choose from to fit your needs. There are even membership discounts if you are a student at the University of Washington with your U-PASS.
With Car2Go and ReachNow, you can hop in a car whenever, wherever (with no reservations required) and leave it at what the companies call the Home Area, which simply means, their operating area. No need to return it where you got it from and both companies have a variety of vehicles. ReachNow has also piloted their new program ReachNow Ride in our area which is similar to Lyft, Uber, or a taxi service like Seattle Yellow Cab, which are ridehailing services, drivers will pick you up and drop you off.
